Lewis Harrison's
Academy of Natural Healing
Graduate Program in
Alternative Healing & Complementary Healing
DESCRIPTION: This program guides the advanced student to: (a) expand their
knowledge of the principles of healing (b) create a historical model of the
major healing systems in alternative healing and human potential including
botanical medicine, the nutritional reform movement, homeopathy, polarity,
Reiki, chi, prana, bioenergetics, interactive bodywork systems, Applied
Kinesiology and others. (c) analyze the similarities and differences among the
above mentioned models; (d) learn methods for first
aid, home care, case taking and analysis; and (e) expand their knowledge
and understanding of the the work of Buckminster Fuller, Fritjof Kapra, Joseph
Campbell, J. Krishnamurti, John Bradshaw, Moshe Feldenkrais, Ida Rolf, John Lily
and other important thinkers in human potential.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
1. To prepare the student with a foundational training in the art and
science of healing and human potential facilitation.
2. To strengthen and expand the student's use of systemic thinking.
3. To become acquainted with the assessment techniques, treatment
goals, and interventions characteristic of various healing models.
4. To enable students to apply the energetic schema to the therapeutic
models studied, thereby facilitating comparisons across models and to their own
preferred styles of intervention.
5. To engage students in a process in-and-out of the classroom for
observing and understanding the influence of diet, exercise, emotional attitudes
and belief system on the strength or weaknesses of energetic pathways in the
body.
METHOD AND FORMAT:
In this 144 hour program classes are purchased as 12 hour blocks. Classes can be
scheduled as best meets the students scheduling needs. Any class scheduled must
be a minimum of two hours in length. Each 12 hour block must be completed within
30 Days. Classes are conducted as a lecture and discussion, supplemented by
occasional videotapes and hands-on healing techniques. It should be noted that
this course requires students to do considerable amounts of reading in texts and
handed-out articles, and work-books. Workbooks are included in the tuition.
Other books are purchased separately. To successfully complete the program a
student must pass a final exam and complete a written thesis. The Academy
reserves the right to publish this thesis. (The student will receive royalties
on any which are sold).
At the completion of each twelve hour block of classes the student will meet for
a one hour life coaching session with Lewis Harrison, the Director of the
Academy.
Upon completion of the program, students will have an advanced understanding of
traditional approaches to natural healing, integrative energetic healing
techniques and current trends in alternative and complementary medicine
including a conceptualization of the human energy anatomy, and advanced skills
to assess and work with energy balancing through bodywork, breath-work,
exercise, diet, visualization, communication and self-actualization. The student
will also have an advanced understanding of how the mind affects the energetic
status of the principles and elements, and therefore all aspects of the human
experience.
