Dear Prospective Student,

This is a very long letter about our unique and unconventional school. Eighteen pages worth. This may seem like a lot of reading but I know it is essential that you read it if you are seriously looking for the appropriate school to fulfill your passion for a career in natural healing and alternative medicine. I ask, about the legacy you are leaving because you are obviously interested in making a difference in the world, and at some point, those will be the questions that matter most to you. You won't be counting the amount of money you make, the number of clients you see, the amount of information you've memorized on herbs, nutrition, reflexology, homeopathy and acupressure or the number of books you read or write.

Your most important consideration each day will become, "Am I making a difference?" It's a funny thing though and you may not think that it is a very holistic way of looking at things but...When you complete your education in some area of alternative medicine and natural healing if you have not learned how to reach thousands of people annually and bring in at least $100,000 to a half-million dollars a year in your health and healing business - you won't really be making an impact. And that's the honest, hard truth. Now if you're offended - and you may be - let me explain why I'm using the number of clients you will have and the amount of money you make as a measuring stick. Because that's exactly what it is. Really. Here's why...

If you see fifteen clients a week for 52 weeks but you're doing it for a fee of $50 or less - you will not be in a position of great influence. You'll probably be hanging lot's of flyers on health food store bulletin boards, making lot's of follow-up calls to potential clients and sometimes sitting around waiting for occasional clients who just don't show up and don't bother to call..

If you see forty clients a week for 52 weeks but you're doing it for a fee of $75 or less - you will not be in a position of great influence - you're still not making the impact you should. You're briefly in someone's
life, then you move on to the next client, and they go on with their life.

If you're really making an impact, you are:
Speaking regularly to large groups
Selling educational and motivational products
Consulting with the influential health food and natural product
companies and organizations in your area of expertise; and
Touching thousands or millions of people on a daily basis, through the media, your web site, books, tapes and videos.

That's the way the universe works... When you give value - you are rewarded in multiples of that. You do the arithmetic. If you are really making a difference in natural healing and alternative medicine - that translates into at least a $100,000 to a half-million dollars a year in revenues and maybe even more. YOU CAN CHOOSE TWO WAYS TO STUDY AT THE ACADEMY

1. The University Track:

This is a traditionally structured learning experience. Classes are built around semesters and a highly organized syllabus. Attendance is taken and the student is given regular homework assignments, is expected to take regularly scheduled quizzes, produce term papers, and pass a final exam. This program begins twice annually: in September and February.

2. The Customized Non-Traditional Track:

As the name implies this learning experience shifts and adjusts to the student's changing interests and schedule requirements. Classes are small (2-6 students) and the student can pick and choose from hundreds of class offerings including distance learning, web-based programs and phone coaching. These different educational approaches enable the student to explore the many approaches to healing and personal development. It also gives them the opportunity to meet other students in different specialties, as they move from class to class. Students in this program are required to attend 90 of their 155 class hours in a chosen specialty. Rolling admission allows flexible class hours to fit your work schedule.

OUR UNCONVENTIONAL TEACHING STYLE OF THE CUSTOMIZED NON-TRADITIONAL TRACK:
Our approach is the same approach that has been used throughout Asia, particularly in China for thousands of years. It is based on the concept that an effective school has mentoring, community and teamwork as it's
foundation. In many parts of Asia, collaboration comes naturally. In this approach, a group of students create a powerful support system, taking the same classes, socializing, calling each other for support and mentoring each other. At the Academy Of Natural Healing the material you study in the classroom will have repercussions for other dimensions of your life. Younger students often are not aware that the context must be broader than their individually lived experience. We hope that by tapping into the best we have to offer you, you will be more apt to discuss material beyond the classroom, and to make connections across the curriculum.
We encourage collaboration among advanced and entry level students. Many students are prepared to think critically an learn how to be effective healers, but they often lack background. They may recognize evidence, but they often don't have enough general knowledge to transform it into a successful business model.

THE ADULT LEARNER

Adult students are very different from traditional college-age students. They are likely to be more sophisticated because they have already had years of life experience and problem solving behind them. In all learning situations there are individual differences, but with adults there is greater disparity of age, education, cultural backgrounds, and reasons for taking a course.

Adult students as a rule will be more insistent on understanding the work and will expect clear and valuable explanations. They will expect the material to be relevant to the curriculum. They have come to the learning market voluntarily and are more sophisticated consumers. They expect value. Above all, adult students WANT to learn.

THE CAMPUS

We do not have a formal campus. But we offer regular classes. Because our programs allow for the shifting needs of students and their rapidly changing class schedules, classes in New York City are taught at our office on west 72nd Street and on west 34th Street. We also rent classrooms at other learning centers. Some very specialized classes may even be taught in the homes of faculty members. We also offer workshops and seminars throughout the world and have web-based and distance learning programs.

Let me think about it for a year or two. It's probably all hype. If this school is so successful why don't they produce a big fancy, sixty page, four color brochure. I read Lewis Harrison's books, I've heard the success stories from past graduates and even called some of them. I have a lot of faith in myself, passion for what I do, and I know I should be impacting a lot more people with my visions, desires, passions and message.

I'm ready to step into a bigger arena. I can see that I would really be good as a teacher and practitioner in the healing arts. I've got something important to contribute - what I really need now is to not only study the healing arts but also the essential skills and knowledge in the selling and marketing aspects of this invaluable knowledge. If you want to take the next step, we will schedule an in depth interview. This homework will take you between 1- 2 hours to do. Throughout your training we'll do brief reviews, always ready to answer any questions you have, and as your learn more about health and healing we can spend the necessary time on how you MARKET all these healing skills, and these products.
